Assessments Offered

WPPSI-IV

The WPPSI-IV, Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence Fourth Edition is an innovative measure of cognitive development, skills, and abilities for preschoolers and young children, rooted in contemporary theory and research. It is an individually administered intelligence test that is required to be administered by a psychologist in an office or clinic setting. This updated version strongly emphasizes developmentally-appropriate, child-friendly features. The WPPSI-IV provides a reliable and valid measure of intelligence for children ages 2 ½ – 6 years.

The WPPSI-IV generates five composite scores, including Verbal Comprehension (VCI), Visual Spatial Index (VSI), Fluid Reasoning Index (FRI), Working Memory Index (WMI), and Processing Speed Index (PSI).  A Full-Scale Intelligence Quotient (FSIQ) is generated, and you will also receive a GAI score similar to an FSIQ which places less weight on working memory and processing speed. Typically, the complete assessment takes 70-80 minutes, depending on age.

WISC-V

Like the WPPSI-IV assessment, the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Fifth Edition (WISC-V) is the latest version of the most powerful cognitive ability measure. It is an individually administered intelligence test that is required to be administered by a psychologist in an office or clinic setting and is available for children ages 6 – 16 years 11 months old). The WISC-V has been redesigned to provide a more comprehensive picture of a child’s abilities.

WISC-V test results are used for admission into gifted programs or private schools. The test data also illuminate areas of strength and where acceleration may be indicated and inform areas of asynchrony (gaps). The results may also help advocate on your child’s behalf at school and interact more intentionally at home.

The WISC-V generates five composite scores, including Verbal Comprehension (VCI), Visual Spatial Index (VSI), Fluid Reasoning Index (FRI), Working Memory Index (WMI), and Processing Speed Index (PSI).  A Full-Scale Intelligence Quotient (FSIQ) is generated, and you will also receive a GAI score similar to an FSIQ which places less weight on working memory and processing speed. Typically, the complete assessment takes 80-100 minutes, depending on age.

WAIS-IV

The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale – Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV) is a comprehensive clinical instrument for assessing the intellectual abilities of older adolescents and adults. The original WAIS was developed in 1955 by renowned psychologist David Wechsler, Ph.D. The WAIS‐IV is the most advanced adult measure of cognitive ability and is based on recent research in cognitive neuroscience. It provides a reliable and valid measure of intelligence for adults ages 17 – 90.

Typically, the complete assessment takes 70-100 minutes, depending on age.  It is an individually administered intelligence test that is required to be administered by a psychologist in an office or clinic setting. There are four index scores representing significant components of intelligence: Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI), Perceptual Reasoning Index (PRI), Working Memory Index (WMI), and Processing Speed Index (PSI). A Full-Scale Intelligence Quotient (FSIQ) is generated, and you will also receive a GAI score similar to an FSIQ which places less weight on working memory and processing speed. This instrument targets giftedness, psychoeducational disability, and neuropsychiatric dysfunction.

WIAT-IV

Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – Fourth Edition (WIAT-4) is an individually administered achievement test for use in various clinical, educational, and research settings. It provides a reliable and valid measure of achievement for individuals ages 4–50 (grades PreK–12+) and is the more commonly administered broadband measure of academic achievement. It assesses an individual’s academic achievement (or ability to apply cognitive skills and learned knowledge to grade-level expectations). It can also support accelerated education, validate high potential abilities, academic program placement, and diagnose specific learning disabilities.

Typically, the complete test takes 120-180 minutes, depending on grade level. The Domains include Reading, Language, Writing, Speaking & Listening, and subdomains include Reading Comprehension, Language Comprehension; Decoding; and Fluency.

EQ-i:YV

Emotional Quotient Inventory: Youth Version is based on the original EQ-i for adults, the EQ-i:YV measures the level of emotional and social functioning in children and adolescents. It is used by psychologists to identify an individual’s emotional intelligence strengths and weaknesses in order to help develop the skills needed for social, personal, and academic success.

The EQ-IYV provides information on levels of Adaptability, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, General Mood, and Stress Management for children ages 7 – 18. As a strength-based assessment, the EQ-i:YV highlights areas of positive functioning and development.
